My friend Erica loves to wear her curls out. She’s got dense, color-treated hair that lends itself to drying out, so she relies on co-washing to reset her hair in between full wash days. The Carol’s Daughter Marula Curl Therapy Collection is going to give Erica hydrated, super soft, voluminous, flexible curls that will be moisturized for days.
Featured Carol’s Daughter products (UPDATE: The Marula collection is discontinued; find other Carol’s Daughter products here):
The Marula Gentle Cream Cleanser is a rich, hydrating formula made with marula oil that helps hair resist damage with powerful anti-oxidants like Vitamin C and E. Marula oil also has a low molecular weight so it can get through the cuticle for moisturizing penetration. The cleanser also has maruka honey, a humectant that helps with detangling, rose oil to tame frizz, and almond oil for flexibility and added shine.
The Marula Diffusing & Styling Lotion to set Erica in her signature style, a wash-n-go. The lotion has a very lightweight, soft, serum-like texture with a very fresh smell…it reminds me of that sweet smell that baby products have…I love it! The lotion is designed to be diffused so it protects the hair.
Like the rest of the Marula collection, it contains marula oil for soft, non-greasy hydration, rose oil for frizz control and almond oil for superior shine. The styling lotion also contains vegetable protein to give curls flexible definition. It is formulated to be used without cocktailing to give curls a bouncy, fluffy, yet defined finish.
The Marula Oil Softening Serum for added moisture before diffusing. This lightweight oil is going to help smooth the cuticle during diffusing, which will help the curls last longer and it’s going to give the hair a little added shine. The formula has a blend of oils that work together to give curls much needed hydration; it has rose oil to prevent frizz and soften, almond oil make hair shinier and smoother, and Marula oil for moisture.
Total time:
Total style time was about one hour and fifteen minutes.
Keep and care:
To preserve the curls overnight, you can simply gather all the hair to the crown in the pineapple and secure with a satin or silk scarf, or sleep on a satin pillow case.
